Modern Marketing MashupNo matter where you live, there are networking events nearly every night. Some are organic and community organized, while others are corporate and sponsored. Everyone says that their events are different, but the Modern Marketing Mashups sponsored by Oracle Marketing Cloud really are.

We hold them in cities around the country, and they really do feel different from other sponsored events. I might even say that they are fun and worth your time.

1. Marketers Just Like You

The best thing about the Mashups is that people just like you attend them. They are other marketers who face the same daily challenges that you do, and they don’t mind talking about them in a casual environment. Shoptalk can be rewarding sometimes, and you might make a new friend.

2. That Cool Space You Wanted To See

Every Mashup is held in an awesome local space. Sometimes it’s in an exclusive club that you’ve always wanted to set foot in. Or maybe it’s in the local incubator space everyone’s talking about. I even heard about one that was poolside on a rooftop deck overlooking the beach. You can rest assured that it will not be in the same tired hotel ballroom where the real estate seminars happen.

3. No Pushy Salespeople

Okay, we know that it’s a sponsored event, so we have to bring salespeople. But we have put them on notice. This is an informal gathering. No stereotypical salesperson behavior allowed. Keep it friendly. No product pitches. An exchange of business cards is okay, but this is an educational event. We know that you are there to learn, not be sold to.

4. Great Ideas and Expertise

There is a panel discussion at all Mashups. No product demos. You can expect marketers and thought leaders from other companies to talk about the same challenges you face. These are more marketers like you, but we have asked them to share their ideas with you. There might be an Oracle Marketing Cloud person or an expert from our respected partner, Relationship One, moderating the panel or even sitting in. But, guess what? We’re marketers, too.

5. Free Food and Drinks

It’s a networking event, so we understand that some people will just come for the free food and drinks. That’s okay. Not everyone who downloads an e-book is a potential customer. The conversion rate of any marketing activity is never 100%. But, if you are only coming for the grub, at least talk to someone. Maybe it’s a good thing you got out of the house.

If all of that sounds like a compelling way to spend a Thursday evening, look for a Modern Marketing Mashup in a city near you. And if you can’t attend, at least you can follow along with the fun on the #MMMashup hashtag on Twitter.
