Oracle Marketing AppCloud Infographic

Are you one of the 85% of Oracle Marketing Cloud customers that are leveraging the AppCloud? If not, why not? Take the plunge. Elevate your investment in the platform with apps that can increase efficiency, improve your demand generation efforts and quite simply, make you look awesome.

Think about apps for Oracle Marketing Cloud as being like apps for your iPhone. The point is to extend the functionality of the tool and to quite simply, make life just a little easier. Who doesn’t love that?

But, how does one know which apps are most beneficial?

I thought about this with respect to my iPhone. How did I choose the apps that I downloaded? I either identified a purpose that my iPhone didn’t have in its original condition and then I searched for an app that met my requirements or I got app-envy when a friend showed me an app they were using and I identified with the same need that caused them to download the app. In one scenario, I identified the use case. In the other scenario, I received inspiration from another’s use case. Let’s apply that same logic to Oracle Marketing Cloud apps.

Below are descriptions and simple uses cases for a handful of connectors, widgets and apps available for OMC customers. Hopefully this information provides inspiration or a solution for a business need that you’re working on.

SFTP Exporter
This connector provides the flexibility to export Contacts (in a Campaign Canvas or Program) or Custom Objects (in a Program) from Eloqua to a SFTP server. Eloqua has a native batch export tool, but it is limited to exporting records once per day and it cannot currently export Custom Object records.

Sample Use Case #1:
Partner with a direct-mail vendor to incorporate a mailer as part of your campaign effort to continue to engage active contacts or re-engage inactive contacts. Within the campaign canvas flow, use this app to export contacts to a SFTP server for the vendor to download and complete fulfillment.

Sample Use Case #2:
Use an Eloqua Custom Data Object as a unique Leads table. With every qualified form submission or list upload, create a new Custom Data Object record. Setup a Custom Data Object service to drop every new record into a Program that has this app configured and export net new leads to a SFTP server to be ingested by an external tele-qualification team.

Object-to-Contact Data Appender
This app allows Eloqua users to leverage a Custom Object as a lookup table to set or append multiple Contact fields to a matched Contact record. Basically, it provides a more robust append option than natively available in Eloqua’s data tools, thus providing efficiencies for data completion and accuracy.

Sample Use Case:
Based on the Zip Code value on a Contact record, populate other Contact field data such as Salesperson, Region, Territory, State, and Country.

Campaign Date Checker
Use this app to have more granular control of when your Eloqua emails are sent. You can pick specific dates for which an email can be sent or should be suppressed from being sent, which alleviates the time it takes to manually deactivate and reactivate campaigns.

Sample Use Case:
In a multi-wave nurture campaign, configure this app before each email send to suppress an email from being sent on company holidays.

Promo Sampler
For a campaign that offers a limited-time promotion, this app allows Eloqua users to easily manage the user experience based on considerations like inventory or capacity, who can register for the offer, and the time duration of the offer. Best part, you don’t have to deal with complex logic or custom code.

Sample Use Case #1:
Use this app to execute a campaign that offers the first 1,000 form submitters a Starbucks gift card. You can apply rules that provide a different user experience for a duplicate submission and for when the offer is no longer available (e.g., all gift cards have been accounted for).

Sample Use Case #2:
Use this app for any online or onsite event. You can apply rules that provide a different user experience based on when capacity has been reached or when the event has passed.

Form Submitter
Use this app to take advantage of automation that comes with forms. Within a Campaign Canvas or a Program, you can submit a form with a Contact’s data from their Contact or Account record and then leverage form processing steps. Eloqua has an app similar to this, but this particular one has the option to generate a unique ID for each form submission, which can be really helpful when there is a need to create a unique Custom Object record for each form submission.

Sample Use Case:
When a Contact’s lead score reaches a specific threshold to be qualified for sales, submit a form for the Contact and use the form processing step of ‘Send Notification Email’ to alert the assigned sales rep.

Shared List Appender
This app adds a Custom Object record’s mapped Eloqua Contact to one or more Shared Lists. Shared Lists can be used as a container of Contacts for reporting, they can be exported, and they can be used to feed Contacts into a Campaign or Program.

Sample Use Case:
Add a Custom Object record’s linked Contact to a Shared List. Add that Shared List to a Segment that is on a nurture campaign and is being checked every hour for new Contacts to be added.

External Activity Generator
External activities in Eloqua represent inbound responses or activities that Eloqua does not natively track. When generated they can be used for segmentation and reporting, like the activities that Eloqua tracks normally. Today, you can generate external activities via a list upload. This app allows for an additional method for generating external activities with the use of Custom Object records.

Sample Use Case:
If you have incorporated a telecommunication process into your campaign efforts, add the inbound responses that this communication vehicle has provided to your view of the total activity for the campaign. Have your inside sales team or telemarketing vendor submit a form when a response has been received. Setup the form to create a Custom Object record. Setup Custom Object record services to drop new records into a Program to generate an external activity to represent the response.

Eloqua Inspector
This app is great for audits of your Eloqua instance. You can export certain data that is not seen within the user interface for Contact and Account fields, Custom Objects, Segments, and Assets, such as Campaigns, Emails, Forms and Landing pages.

Sample Use Case:
Get an extract of your Emails to see how many emails have been created in the past year within your instance and by which User.

Data Transporter Data Transporters represent a collection of apps that essentially allow for the exporting of Eloqua data to nearly any end point. The primary value is that they make it easy get data out of Eloqua.

Sample Use Case:
Export Eloqua Contact and Activity data to an Oracle database and ingest that data into a BI tool, like Tableau, to create custom reports and dashboards.
